Ante Lešaja, a retired Full professor of the University of Zagreb, was born in 1931 in Korčula. Upon retirement in 1990, he worked as a volunteer for the City library in Korčula and the unfortunate events of destruction of the library collections motivated him to conduct an in-depth research to the phenomena of destroying books in Croatia during the 1990s. The results of the research that spanned over several years can be found in a form of a study entited Knjigocid – Uništavanje knjiga u Hrvatskoj 1990ih [Bookocide – The destruction of books in Croatia in the 1990s], Zagreb, Profil & SNV, 2012. He was particulary engaged, especially in the last 25 years, in the gathering of the collection about the Praxis and the Korčula Summer School. The reasons for this type of engagement are numerous but the most important one can be said to be the belief that the thought efforts and outreach of praxis thinkers are of an immense significance for establishing the grounds for any type of economic research, not exclusively associated with socialist societies.
